Coordinates the day-to-day operation of work within Production Purchasing Department activities along with enforcing logistics processes to control material flow and avoid line downs with costs at Business Plan levels. Actively pursues supply chain management in international in-bound operations. Actively participating in Continuous Improvement and Cost reduction initiatives.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
  • Provides guidance and assistance relative to logistics.
  • Uses problem solving skills to effectively handle schedule changes and delivery issues identified by staff. Identifies alternative solutions while meeting deadlines and satisfying production.
  • Audits current policies/procedures to ensure standards are being met. Identifies and proposes changes to make policies and procedures more efficient.
  • Reviews Compliance to the standard with Logistic Support Groups and directly with the Suppliers .
  • Monitors fluctuating production, MRP (Materials Resource Planning), and inventory in all locations and identifies the optimum and efficiently logistics mode.
  • Standardizes procedure for alerting dynamic changes to affect transportation of raw materials.
  • Utilizes data from the fixed budget, ISP (Inventory Sales Production), Freight Control System and SAP systems.
  • Manages by rapidly assessing strengths and weaknesses, troubleshooting, and making strategic recommendations based on the understanding of the business implications.
  • Participants in Source change and logistics set up for new raw materials or new vendors.
  • Establishes close liaison with production purchasing teams and follow up on needs/requests.
  • Trains production purchasing teams for efficient operations according to established procedures.
  • Supports training with vendors to address and adopt procedures and compliance to policies and legal requirements.
  • Establishes a working relationship with Cross dock 3PL (Third Party Logistics) providers.
MUST-HAVES:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or five (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience with and understanding of ISP (Inventory Sales Production) and SAP.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Windows-based databases as appropriate to the position and assignment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including strong negotiating and customer service skills in both English and Spanish.
