What We Need:

The Business Relationship Manager is a partner to the business, responsible for enhancing our business capabilities by developing and deploying technology solutions that support key business functions. This role partners with a specific area of the business to understand its current processes, systems and tools and works to enhance IT capabilities to increase productivity, reduce costs, and support the medium and long-term IT roadmap.

The Business Relationship Manager role will serve as a hands-on liaison between business units and the IT Department. While the Director will focus on broader strategies related to IT transformation, this role will break down strategic initiatives into discrete projects and work with IT professionals, serve as a project leader, and drive implementation, upgrade, and transformation projects toward completion.

This role will focus on technology and software solutions supporting the areas of business responsible for finance and accounting.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with the director to understand the IT roadmap for the supported areas of the business; drive progress against the roadmap by coordinating with cross-functional teams andpartners.
  • Collaborate with IT, finance and accounting, as well as third-party vendors to support and enhance the software tools that facilitate cost accounting, financial planning, corporate, and operational accounting and the aggregation of financial data.
  • Partner with the finance and accounting teams to understand their processes and how HNI's suite of financial applications supports them. Ensure that underlying systems are properly configured, and the application integrations into the broader IT environment deliver end to end functionality and robust and accurate data.
  • Understand HNI's corporate structure and how costs, revenue, and profits are allocated and tracked.
  • Manage small to medium size projects, enhancements, and service requests following standard methodology from initiation to closeout.
  • Work with internal partners to design, develop, and maintain new and existing interfaces between systems and technologies.
  • Participate in the design, development, testing and deployment of applications; work with internal IT department to resolve application problems.
  • Coordinate, test, and implement system improvements by gathering and documenting requirements, writing functional specifications, testing new configuration, and overseeing the deployment to production. Lead business users through quality assurance processes including building test plans and performing tests for system changes, fixes, patches, and upgrades.
  • Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance activities including monitoring service desk tickets for issue resolution and enhancement requests.
  • Communicate with the business partners; provide updates on tickets, projects, and issue resolutions. Serve as a point of escalation and ensure the appropriate level of urgency to obtain resolution.

What you'll ALSO do:

  • Monitor systems to ensure continued operations and reporting efficiency and work with internal IT department to resolve software and hardware problems.
  • Recommend system design changes and upgrades based on efficiency and user needs.
  • Maintain documentation for standardized processes and systems.
  • Evaluate the best way to use system functionality to meet business and user requirements.
  • Drive process improvement to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of processes and systems.
  • Identify and communicate risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Analyze and evaluate new tools, software, and systems, as directed.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a role that provides service or application support to a functional are of a business, with regular interaction with technical and non-technical partners.
  • 5+ years of overall experience in Information Technology, as a business analyst, or as a project manager (PMP) in an enterprise environment.
  • Previous experience working with or supporting accounting software and technologies such as Oracle EBS, Oracle ERP Cloud, OneStream, Bloomberg Tax and Fixed Assets, or Hyperion.

What You're Good At:

  • Solid understanding of operational accounting, corporate accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting, including GAAP.
  • Strong project management and organization. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and deliver results on-time and on-budget.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with technical and non-technical users and maintain vendor relations.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve problems efficiently.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and communicate technical designs, project issues, and status.
  • Exercise sound judgment and determine appropriate actions.
  • Understand cross-team impacts and engage key business partners in decision making.
  • Ability to prioritize work, excellent organizations skills and initiative to improve processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills (ex. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, etc.)
