Job Description
Overview

Care for patients while operating equipment to produce high quality images for radiologist interpretation; responsible for EMR/PACS navigation, general patient care, positioning patients, providing procedure information and executing proper imaging protocol/technique for all examinations; and comply with all regulatory requirements in providing safe and appropriate care. Evaluates schedule and orders, reviewing as needed with the radiologist and referring provider to ensure the appropriate exam is done for each patient. Operates MRI systems and associated equipment with the ability to safely optimize utilization and abides by MRI safety standards. Collects relevant information verbally and by reviewing the Electronic Medical Record to ensure procedure appropriateness and contraindications throughout entire patient encounter. Performs venipuncture, prepares, measures and administers contrast material, utilizing a variant of equipment and following prescribed protocols to ensure quality images. Communicates effectively with each patient to verify patient identity, by utilizing the Electronic Medical Record. Prepares exam for interpretation, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Transports patients using safe patient handling equipment and techniques as needed, ensuring safe and effective handoff communication when transferring the care of the patient from or back to another department. Mentors students in their clinical assignment within the department, assisting and supervising them appropriate to the students' current level of education. Assists in other areas of the Medical Imaging Department when needed. Practices safety and infection prevention measures by following procedure and policies specific to direct patient care. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows standards for hand hygiene and infection control.


Qualifications

Minimal requirements: Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging or related or foreign equivalent; radiology registration with advanced MRI certification (ARRT or ARMRIT). One year of MRI experience
