WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our GALESBURG, IL plant, you will be a Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager for our manufacturing facility and distribution facility. This individual will be responsible for developing, organizing, implementing, administering, and monitoring all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs.
Key responsibilities (to name a few):
  • Develop and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures, to manage all HSE compliance and risks applicable to the facility
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure ongoing compliance, including all training and record-keeping activities in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations
  • Establish, implement, and sustain ISO 14001 & 45001, and Gates HSE Management System to assess and control HSE risk
  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify system-level weaknesses and recommend solutions for corrective actions
  • Main point of contact for third-party management systems audits with responsibility for responding to audit findings
  • Establish and maintain a contractor HSE program to manage HSE risks associated with contractor activities on site
  • Develop Emergency Response plans, ensuring drills are conducted and corrective actions are identified and implemented
  • Create and manage budgets for HSE activities
  • Drive efforts to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing processes including hazardous and solid waste minimization and reduced water and energy consumption
  • Manage all requirements related to chemical management including chemical approvals, GHS complaint labeling, employee training, and proper disposition

ABOUT YOU
  • 5 - 8 years of health, safety, and environment experience required, manufacturing industry preferred
  • CSP, CIH, CHMM certifications preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Business, or closely related field strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA 1910, EPA regulations, and other regulatory agencies
  • Working knowledge of environmental codes, EPA, and other regulatory agencies
  • Experience with Lean Problem Solving (8D/A3 tools), Incident Investigation, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Leadership experience, developing and driving initiatives
  • Experience preparing and delivering HSE trainings
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
The noise level in the plant is usually moderate to high. Ear plugs may be required in some areas of the plant. Employees are required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses throughout the plant.
